This file type is purpose-built for jewelry, offering features like prong adjustment, pavé stone placement, and shank editing that generic CAD software can't match. STP / STEP Files

STEP files are an excellent choice when you need to transfer a model between different CAD platforms without losing geometric accuracy. Unlike mesh-based formats like STL, STEP files are solid geometry files — they're more precise and easier to edit after the fact. If you're sending a design to a manufacturer who might need to make small adjustments before printing, a STEP file is a smart choice.

  • Always specify scale: Confirm whether your file is set to millimeters and include the intended ring size or dimensions in your brief.
  • Check wall thickness: Thin walls that look fine on screen may not survive the printing or casting process. A minimum of 0.8mm is a good general rule for wax resin printing.
  • Send a render or reference image: Even a simple screenshot helps your manufacturer understand your intent before production begins.
